Possible new rx7 owner w/ questions.

Hello everyone. Im brand new to the board. Im planning on buying a 1979 rxt 5-speed. The car doesnt run an dis in rough shape. The body is straight with minor surface rust. The interior smells like as and needs to be replaced. My basic questions are these. How easy is it to find oem replacement parts for this car? I have found several pieces on the internet with a quick search so I imagine they should be available with ease. Im not concerned of the cars mechanical condition because I will be doing a V-8 conversion. I have a 302 waiting to find a home. Please dont hate me for disregarding the rotary, just my choice. Any and all input (besides bashing my choice of motor) is welcopme and appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. You question would best be directed to the other engine conversion portion of this forum. We tend not to discuss these things in the specific section.

Check out torque central.com it focuses more on "your type".

For OEM replacement parts check out:
Mazdatrix.com

Well I didnt have any questions about the conversion, just about the specific type of rx7. I like the looks of it and if I can get a good prcie on the car it will be mine.

What kind of parts?
Interior parts can be hard to find, although there are some out there (try Mazdatrix or, *gasp* the dealer.)

Exterior parts arent too bad, fenders and all.Just remember that the 79-80 RX-7's had some differences in the body, lights and interior, compared to the more common 81-85 cars.

Working components like steering, suspension and drivetrain parts can still be obtained from standard parts houses(Kragen,Napa, ect)
Its the parts for older Mazda cars like the RX-2,3 and 4, that are getting very rare these days.

There are tons of used parts. These cars are getting old, so it is quite common to find someone parting out. You could probably get a complete interior or whole parts car for cheap if you keep a look out.
