^^^^ you guys don't have any issues with heat? I've always been told that without the sleeves you're exposing the aluminum to direct exhaust heat.. thus harder to cool. Mind you, I've never run...err "sleeve-less" but the theory makes sense to me. Drag cars that only see a 1/4 mile at a tie can get away with it, no problem, but I would think stop and go driving would be murder on the cooling system. But, I have been wrong before.....

That might be the case, but I haven't had any problems with heat.

I actually had the car both ways - With sleeves, and without.

After rebuilding, one of my FD sleeves had come loose - and I just removed them for simplicity, and less likely for crap to fall into the turbo.

The sleeves are also serve the purpose for noise.

temperature-wise, running without them is fine. i'd be concerned about flow before i'd be concerned about heat - and even then, if i had to, i'd do it.

I was going to say that also about the sleeves but the only experience I've had without them wasn't on a turbo set-up. I ran them on a 87 n/a motor in my 1st gen with a Dellorto that seen plenty of abuse for over 5 years as a near daily driver. Sold that motor as a runner with good compression and last I know it's still going fine now in a 2nd gen.

I wouldn't worry about the sleeves to put the motor back together b/c if you don't set them in there right and the pin that holds them in place somehow finds it way out your turbo will then have a nice little snack to chew on. Like DirectFreak said, less likely for crap to fall into the turbo.

Alright ill just clean up the ports with a file and the out side. Ill leave the sleeves out. Ill check and see if the plates have been lapped or not. If not ill check them out more. I hope to have a rebuilt or semi rebuilt motor soon. And with the RB intake and Fuel injection coming im hoping to have 200 HP idk if that resonable but i hope it is.
