"Porting 5th & 6th ports" OR "Good site to explain porting rotaries"
"Porting 5th & 6th ports" OR "Good site to explain porting rotaries"
Can you just have the 5th and 6th ports ported? What type of port is this called, if it has a certain name?
Does this type of porting eliminate the annoying bucking and bad idle, sputtering, and overall crappiness of some of the other types of porting?
I would figure the 5th & 6th ports are only open at higher RPM, so it wouldn't affect low RPM (normal) drivability at all... am I correct?
---
Does anyone know of a good site for explainations of porting types, and/or the explaination of how the 4 and especially 6-port rotaries operate?
Thanks and here's a pre-emptive "sorry" if this is ignant n00B stuff.

Do a search with the term porting. There have been several recent threads.
Also on the Se if you want some more benefit to usage of the stock 5th, 6th port actuators then purchase some of pineapple racing sleeves.
They can be viewed on their website.
I have them installed on my car and they are a well worthwhile investment of $50.00

Yes I've seen them they look like a cleaver idea.
Now how much are the intake manifold gaskets and injector seals/o-rings that Pineapple recommends replacing at the same time? Couldn't find them on the site...
I know a few years back I came across a fantastic website with diagrams and pics of all the types of rotary porting. Can't remember what it was...

Can you explain a little about this--5th, 6th ports, racing sleeves, etc. I have no idea what you are talking about, but it sounds exciting.
