Point to Electric ignition conversion!

I have a 79 with points....which suck.. Wondering if there are any rightups on the conversion to an electric ignition from an older model. Did a search but couldn't find much.

ok, pull out the distributor- replace with an 81-85 distributor.

get the wiring from the 81-85

check out the wiring diagrams on www.mazspeed.com there are links to them in the facts section. Takes a while to download, but they are from the actual mazda shop manual!! good stuff.

there's going to be some wiring involved- haven't done it myself, but I've looked at the wiring differences... it should be a saturday project- no more, hopefully.

It's easy to wire up and it will make a notable difference and while at the junkyard pick up a extra few ignitors for the new dizzy.

I completed it in about a 30mins no problem.
