Please Help, Shifter Spring Question...

Well, after deciding to change my manny tranny fluid (went with Royal Purple) I decided to Pull out my shifter and check the condition of the bushing and lube it up a bit as well...It came out just fine, but when I went to put it back in, The preload spring for the 1-2 gate gave me no resistance...So I pulled the shifter back out and found this..

Now my question is how do I fix it!?!?!?...I don't know whether I want to pry on that spring and am not sure whether to go to the right or left with it....

If anyone has any experience with this, let me know...I plan on monkeying with it later today...Thanks in advance for your help...

That looks fine to me. You should push it back in and check for spring pressure when you move the shifter into the 1-2; it should want to push back into the 3-4.

Thanks for your response...The spring is still intact, but push it back in where?...There is a big ramp Block on the drivers side of where the pin sits now so I guess I should push it over to the passenger side? Would moving it forward or revers help any?

Insert the small end of the shifter to the driver's side of the spring, then push. Most of them I've seen have broken.

Thanks Trochoid..That was much easier than I thought..I thought that C-Clip had to click into something on the block that the shifter ball goes into...Not just pushed against the shifter ball base..Car is back to happy shifting..Thanks!
