Exclamation Please Help!!!

ok...when i bought my car, it had an aftermarket deck, and a broken power ant. One day i decided to replace the power ant, so i went to schucks and bought a "universal" one and it fits just fine. anyway...the stock wires on the ant itself were Red, Blue, and Blue w/Yellow Stripe. The wires on my new one are Red, Black, and Blue. So what i need to know is TWO things...one, how should i hook up the wires from the new ant to the stock wiring harness...and two, what color is the power ant lead AT THE DECK ? i noticed that even though the mast was broken, the motor never tried to move the ant on the old one...which tells me either the ant motor was bad, or it was just never hooked up to the new deck, which is why i want to know what color the power ant wire is that you hook up to the stereo. i hope that this makes sense to someone that can help, im so tired it almost doesnt even make sense to me...

Do yourself and go buy the Haynes manual then on your way home stop at Radio Shack and buy a volt/ohm meter. (no I'm not getting kick back from either company) The Haynes manual has a complete schematic breakdown of the entire electrical system, wire colors and voltages included. Youll find your wire using both new toys you just got.

have fun

I have a color chart with all the universal colors for a stereo hook up. They are always the same. I probably won't ba able to get a hold of it until i go home next week though.

No way to know the wire function on the new antenna if it was not on the box, but it's a safe bet the Red is still power. Connect it to Red on the car. Connect the two remaining wires either way. You won't short anything if it's wrong. If they are backwards, the antenna will go up when it should go down and vice-versa. If that is the case, leave the red alone and reverse the other two.

Power antenna lead at the deck is Blue/Green. This is for an '84, hopefully the same for all 1st gens.

If the motor does not work as it did not with the old antenna, and the antenna lead is hooked up, it may not be the motor at fault. There is a relay between the antenna lead and the motor. It is under the dash to the left of the steering column.
