Question Please Help

i have just complete a stock 12a swap everythign seems put back together correct, the motor is a 82 with a 79 carb, the carb ran on the original motor but that motor blew, the 82 had no carb when i got the motor. in order for me to start the car i have to pull the choke all the way out and push the pedal down all the way. once started it revs at 4000, then i can slow decel it to about 2600 as soon as i hit 2500 the motor just shuts off like the key is turned off, i have been told already it sounds likea vacuum leak but i have looked and cant find anything. my other thought was the primary injectors do not work, is that posible that the secondarys are the only one running the car? well if it still sounds like a vacuum problem then i will keep searching. all i can assume is that it has to do with the carb. the floats are in the middle, um there is not air pump on the car. please tell me any suggestions, thanks. Matt. tell me if you need more infor on the setup

Check your spark plugs and wires (though probably not a likely culprit) too.... but definitely use some carb cleaner on the carb and the linkages. Also look into the carb (not too closely) and push the accelerator link lever (that's my non-technical term for it) to feed fuel into the carb and see if you can see any gas coming from the primaries.

I am planning on buying some new NGK plugs soon, i remember the guy thats help working on it saying that he did see gas coming out, but i dont know if he was looking at the primary or secondary, the 82 engine did run but had a carb problem, the engine runs great at 3000 rpms, better then my 79 ever ran. i will be going saturday to see it again i will check all that, please feel free for anymore suggestions, thanks

something about fuel idling jets might not flow if you put a gasket on backwards, I think its the gasket between the throttle body and main body. But if you didn't take the carb apart then...actually I still need carb work myself to get mine running.

sounds like a fuel problem. Check the pressure
