I know it appears to be a joke but what many fail to see under that DP90 exterior is a clean low mileage, welded tub with no rust that will be painted in a special mix of Nissan and House of Colors paints:

All for kess than $2000.00

that one is nice, I like how they look with the side mouldings removed. I'm just trying to decide once I remove the side mouldings, if I'm going to paint the front and rear mouldings on the bumper cover or leave them black like the one in the pic. They actually kinda look good left black.

dotn remove the moldings...otherwise, you will be asking for dings..unless you have a special parking spots.

Mel, that was my original thought but if you look at how low these cars sit compared to the rest of the cars on the road, I don't think the mouldings will help (much) anymore. Maybe back in 85 they would have. They certainly wouldn't protect you from trucks or suv's. One of the first gens I recently bought and sold had about 5 door dings and all of them were far above the moulding. Another thing is this car is not a daily driver, just on weekends and such. I would never leave it in a big parking lot or anything like that. Still deciding though as Danny's car does look really good with the mouldings intact!

Here's another cool pick of Keith's GSL-SE

If anything touches or pushes on the front of that bumper, those black things (licence holders?) could mar the paint. He might consider mounting them a little lower.

IMHO it looks very peculiar to see moulding on the bumpers, and not continue around the body. Painting the moulding doesn't look right either. Maybe if you modified the bumper covers and removed the moulding from them, it would look better.

They had trucks and SUVs in 1985 too, and 5 door dings in ~20 years is not unexpected. The moulding will protect against some door dings, obviously not 100% of them. Mine even completely saved the car from damage when it was sideswiped by another car.

the license plate bracket is no longer there, the body shop put that on. also the moulding from the bumpers cannot be removed, it is a part of them.

There was someone on one of the lists a few years ago who ground the molding part down and refinished the bumper covers. It was a decent looking job, but they used something custom on another car after that.
