That door is from a 79-80. I would just take all that crap off, and repaint that door.

For $900 you have the potential to build up a really great car.

Yeah It helped a little bit but I ended up having to do more wiring than I had in mind but it's no big deal.

Yeah but I don't even know where to begin really.

Haha luke i am your father...sorry could not resist. I really want to fix the body up a bit but I know I have to save up and put money into the performance. Right now I think I got about $200 to spend or so. It sucks though because at the moment I am not getting a lot of hours at work so my checks are pretty skimpy which doesn't help me anyway on working on the car! Damnit!

Runs fine no problems at all, *knock on wood*. I did a tuneup on it when I first got it changing the spark plugs, rotar and the cap, I got to get a oil change done in it one of these days and change some other fluids.

Nice! You could get a new trim kit from Schoche.

Also you guys say I have a 79-80 door on the passener side well where can I find the 85 gs door that has the same interier as what I currently have? Any links on where I could order it or a price idea because I really want to get that looks normal. Or can I just have that trim torn off, find new trim and have it repainted? I'd also need to know where to get that trim.

Exterior trim strip and interior door panels are not hard to find on here or in wrecking yards. The interior panel unscrews and swaps in about 5 or 10 minutes, and the trim strip is held on with adhesive--- just heat it up and peel it off, then glue the proper one on with contact cement. It's best to repaint the door to match the rest of the car prior to attaching the new trim strip though.

But before spending too much on this car there are a couple of places to check for rust that will make or break the option of restoring:

First, open the hood and check very carefully the unibody frame members on both sides--- where the steering system is bolted on. Rust here can hide under the paint for years, getting worse and worse. If there is major rust here the car is beyond economic repair.

Second, remove the storage bins behind the seats and check for rust on the floor and on the inner surfaces of the rear wheel wells. If not too far gone this can be repaired by welding in new metal, but it's not cheap. I've seen some that were so bad that it was amazing the car didn't simply fold in half, but most aren't quite that far gone.

Alright I will have to check that out tomorrow, sucks tonight when I was coming home from a wedding my f'n front brakes gave out. All I here is that crunching noise you hear when you know your brakes are shot and I had to drop off a family member first then managed to get home mostly just engine breaking and not really having to use my brake to much. Thank god for that but damn.

Yeah, bummer. Front brake pads and rotors are not expensive, and with the right tools they only take about an hour (or less) to change out by yourself. However, if the rotors are scored and need to be swapped out you'll need to have a 14mm off-set box end wrench to remove the bottom bolt that holds the caliper bracket onto the hub. And in order for this wrench to fit onto the bolt head (due to clearance issues) you'll need to grind off about 1/8" from the very end of the upper surface of the business end of the wrench. Still, this route will cost less than half what a brake shop would charge you, and you'd have the necessary tools on hand for next time.
