yeah, he was sand bagging then even letting off at the end to try and not look so fast.

Said he was too fast for the class he was in, which was a 1.6-2.0 i think, i read it all somewhere months ago. thats cool hes back.

SEARCH: Jesus Padilla, you'll find his 20G with pics....

Are you sure it's not the SAME car? Just with a 13B in it now, instead of a 20B?

I have pics of it when it was 20B powered, and It looks pretty much identical.

I don't see the logic of him just keeping a 20B powered FB at the shop for no reason, when he could use the same chassis with a 13B.

no he's got both of them. When he goes to the local events he brings both cars out. They're both five letters, same color and everything.

I'm surprised at the amount of people on this forum that haven't seen this car before. Do you guys watch NHRA sports compact?

The motor in that car is badass though, they had a special on it in sports compact car about a year ago. It's a 20B peripheral ported. That's some wicked N/A power. I had the chance to talk to the people on the team before I had my rx7 but had no interest because I drove my turbo camry Oh well, perhaps I'll see them next year at the IDRC show again at Palmdale.

prefix, that isn't the same car! Read the posts, that car is 13b powered, because he can't run the 20b anymore. So he's running a 13bPP

I love this the best:
"Padilla collected the ninth qualifying award of his career, and posted a track record E.T. of 9.968 at 130.89 in his Mazda RX-7 to lead the Honda Tuning All Motor category. "

The "Honda Tuning" category It's awesome. He beat the **** out of a bunch of Hondas with his 20b last time, and when they banned that, he came back with an engine a third smaller and is STILL kicking ***.

I bet you he's not even running race fuel.. He wouldn't need it because he's N/A.. So he's kicking their asses on low-octane (possibly)

I've searched high and low for specs on this NEW car of his and haven't been able to find out anything more than the fact that it's 13b PP. I found this site:
http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...687AA504AE8%7D

which gives mention of his awesome time and speed, but I have yet to find any stats... Damn Google.. or maybe they're not posted yet. Man I would *love* to see that car.

Where's his shop? Do they have a website?

Jon

And of course the important thing - you have to be able to replicate it. And he did! I found another page from the same site where the next day he took the finals with another sub-10 second time

"Padilla, from Kissimmee, Fla., earned his ninth career victory by defeating Jeremy Lookofsky in the Honda Tuning All Motor final. Padilla clocked a run of 9.998 at 131.75 in his 1985 Mazda RX-7, while Lookofsky posted a 10.288 at 129.89 in his Thermal Research/DVS Shoe Co. 2003 Honda Civic Coupe in the runner-up effort. In the semi-final round of eliminations, Padilla set the Honda Tuning All Motor E.T. record with a pass of 9.951 running within 1-percent of the 9.968 pass which he made in qualifying Saturday. "

Awesome! The page is here:

I'm definately going to go to some of the events that his rx7 is going to be in this year. Hopefully I won't pass up the opportunity to ask them some questions this time. Last time they looked bored as **** in between runs, just sitting around in lawn chairs drinking cokes.

yeah kilo is not joke. He's been tuning rotaries since the early 70's. He was at the track and once helped my friend time his car by ear.

whats the deal with the caster/camber plates and 5 lug wheels? does he really need that for drag racing?

I wouldn't think so. Caster and Camber plates should only be needed for SCCA racing or whatever and you have lowered your vehicle.

Don't see the point in 5-lugs either. Look at Padillas car in one of the previous threads. He had stock GSL-Se wheels with the 20b engine and the new car with the 13bPP still has a 4-lug (probably stock rotors)

I notice that he only changed the rears to five lugs but thats probably just because he changed out the entire rear end to beef it up(probably a ford 9 inch).

With the whole camber thing, I've seen people adjust the camber so that when the weight is shifted to the rear the front wheels don't have any camber. Read it in a Carboy or Autoworks a few years back. Guy in japan had weights added to the rear of an FC and also had the front lifted some to simulate when a car is flying down the track. Then he'd adjust the camber so that it was neutral. Don't know if its affective or not but kinda makes sense.

Drj419, unless you're loaded and aren't letting on, you probably couldn't just buy and drop-in what Jesus has in his cars. It must cost a pretty penny for all of that modification, and he gets all his own labour saving all that money.

But yeah, we all WISH we could afford that.

I seen his car in a December 2003 edition of a magazine that I can't remember the name of. He was only mentioned in a pic, while other cars got major coverage. Just judging from the pic of his launch he wasn't anywhere close to pulling a wheelstand like that. Looked like he might have done an 11 sec quarter judging by the pic. Front wheels didn't even leave the ground.

That could be because his 20B car had wheelie bars
