Very nice car BTW!

Nothing special... HV oil pump, increased oil pressure and careful clearancing. It's just that it keeps making power up to 8500rpm so it's hard not to rev the crap out of it.

Damn!! Let me say that one more time, DAMN! Nice looking car! What kind of plug wires are those? Those must be 10.2mm wires? I'd like to order some like that, but i need them in blue... Your engine bay is so clean, i can barely see any wires!

1 more thing, it doesnt seem like you have any vac lines. I removed my rats nest, but i still have a few wires. Can they only be removed if i run a different carb? Also, what is the hot start assist for and is it needed? Thanks!

The hot start assist...Well, it assits in starting the car when its hot . Its basically pointless. Mine worked and all it did was give the gas a little blip on starting when warm. I yanked mine out, and the only difference now is that if I dont touch the pedal, the car will start and just come up to 800 RPMs. Before with the assist, it would start, go up to like 1100 RPMs, and then drop to idle. Whatever. Its junk, yank it out . Same with the sub zero start assist .

You know, I was looking at my car the other day and noticed that it has a spot for the hood prop on both sides (IE - on the hood and the inner fender). I thought about getting another one just to be "original". Actually, because I cant tell you how many times Ive popped the hood knowing Im gonna mess with something on that side of the car, then just walked to that side without actually putting the hood up. So then I have to walk back to the other side again, and open the hood, then go back again. Its just frustrating . I dont know, I guess its kinda stupid, but I thought it would be interesting. The only flaw in my plan is that all the hood prop rods here in the states are bent to work on the left side of the car. Same with te little plastic clip for the rod. Oh well, another stupid idea down the drain .

Darn that is very pretty. Soo nice and empty in the engine bay too.
Maybe time to relocate the battery?

That's EXACTLY the same intake setup as mine. It's the 6-port manifold right?. I was told that it's pretty rare. I had to get mine from Japan. What size venturies are you running? I'm using 38s, I had 42s but couldn't make any midrange power.

It makes great high RPM power but I'm not entirely happy with drivability. It's grouchy at low RPM. I'm in the process of switching to the intake from an 89 to get more low rpm port velocity.

I've never seen it in another Rx-7.

I think it's on the 'wrong' side of the car.

No, mines a 4-port. I'm running 42mm chokes at the moment. It pulls like a train from about 4500rpm up but below that it bogs down so 40's would probably be a bit nicer.

IDA's aren't that rare though. They're almost the only aftermarket carb used on rotaries here in Australia.

And yes I have brakes and a clutch

Glad to hear you can stop and change gears. It looks like there are capped off lines in your fire wall where the clutch master is on the US cars. What was there?

From this angle I can see that it's a four port manifold. I was referring to the 6-port manifold as being rare. So I guess I've still yet to see another one.

Are you using the spacers under the Weber to boost low end?

You mean the aircon lines? The big line with the smaller one directly below it.

the early 79's (the ones sold in 78) had the hood prop on the passenger side of the car.. but good luck finding one of those..
you can always just take a small metal rod and bend it.

My Weber has those. They are the "gasket". They have an O-ring on each side.

They're actually phenolic spacers. It's to stop heat transfer from the manifold to the carb. Mine only have an o-ring on one side for some reason so I still have to use a gasket.
