No.
Also, do you need to use both outlet ports on the regulator?
No
It looks like there are two fuel inlets to the stock carb. I was planning to use one port to mount the pressure guage.

Thanks
The smaller one is the return line to the tank.
I have my gauge on the second port of my regulator.
Some "dead head" the return line on the carb by putting their gauge there, and doing away with the return line.
This can make some fuel pumps work harder, but I don't know which types. My opinion is that it's best to keep the return line.

You should buy just two or three feet of the hose that is plumbing your stock pump in now. It's cheap, and good to have. You might be suprised to find that the existing hose has turned quite gummy or cracked.
To install the pump, you will need to mount it differently than the stock one, though very close to the same spot. But it requires new pieces of hose, as the existing ones won't (probably) be long enough.
The fuel line, return line, and tank breather line are all steel. They go from the firewall to where the fuel filter is.
The guy at summit either thinks you have a fulie, or he's trying to sell you something you don't need.

A fuel injected car needs serious pressure, and so I'm sure then what he said would be a concern.
