DCDs or any others I might have missed. Please list the fuel pump your running, also have any of you had problems with that particular pump?. Im really starting to think that Holley pumps suck ***!. Also include what pressure your running and if you have a return line rigged uphow did you connect it?. If you feel like including details about fuel line size and routing that would be cool too!. One last thing post some pictures also people!

 

I have a Carter 7 psi pump with a dial type regulator that looks older than I am. Its set at 2.5 psi, anyone's guess as to the true pressure.

No return line, I capped it off.

 

I got a 45DCOE with a lake cities intake...no bends.
I run a carter fuel pump with a FPR, got my fuel problems fixed. I had a vaccum leak at the brake booster fitting and also a bad a gasket.

I doubt your holley fuel pump is bad. Try to post exactly what your problem is.

I have an 85 series 3....the motor is a series 5 13b large extend port...running a 48 ida weber. I'm runnning the original fuel pump with a holley regulator. This combination works well and i have not had any problems so far....its been this way for just over a year

 

by the way i have heard of someone running a holley blue pump on a standard 12a carby....the pressure was way too high resulting in the needle and seat falling out, this was then sucked in to the motor...exit one 13b!!!!!!

I run an 48 IDA. I use the holley blue pump @ 4.5 psi. I havent had any problems yet. And as far as the prob with teh needle and seat thing above, they were probably to dumb and didnt use a reg and ran it up to 15-20 psi. hehehaa that will teach em.

 

I wouldn't believe everything you hear. Even if the needle or seat did fall out (almost impossible) there's no way they could be sucked out of the float bowl. The oriffices in the jets are far too small.

 

I still have my stock pump on there with a shitty regulator that says its set at 3. PSI or just setting 3 I will never know but it runs good.

 

I run a 48 IDA, 2 Carter pumps, 5lbs of fuel pressure.

 

10 years ago I used to run in my '81 GSL with a 4 port street ported 13B a weber 48 IDA, stock fuel pump, an additional Facet pump on the firewall into an additional fuel filter then a regulator at 4.5 psi. It worked well.

 

holley red pump here, stock lines, capped the return line, holley regulator set about 4psi or so. can't be sure cuz the fuel pressure gauge sucks so badly. originally, the pump died on me, but they warrantied it, and it's been great ever since. the pump was second hand when i bought it, and now good as new(reman by holley).

Holley Blue 110gph pump, I use the included Holley fuel pressure regulator, set at 2.25psi as measured by an Autometer fuel pressure gauge plumbed into the regulator and braided lined into my gauge panel in the racecar.

I use a return line. Carb shop had the dual fitting for the carb. One line for fuel inlet, other for outlet returning gas back to the gastank.

48 IDA using gross jet on a 13-B big streetport. Carter 7lbs pump to a holley regulator. Fuel Pressure set a 5psi at WOT. No return line. No problem seen with the pump but had problems before using a carter on other cars. When the time comes, I will switch back to a holley red.

still need to do the exhaust and tune for better mileage, but my only real beef with my setup now is controlling the noise ...

which one of the Holley regulators are you using with you Weber?

 

Im using the 4-9psi regulator turned almost all the way out. My pressure gauge I got from Summit sucks *** so bad that half the time it dont even register, but acording to my pressure gauge at work im set at 2.5-3 psi. This pressure does not fluctuate at WOT. Thanks for all the posts guys, but half of you didnt include what port or engine you are running!. One more thing what needle valve are you using also. The one in my 50DCO says its a 3.00, whats the difference between a gross needlvalve and a regular one?. I DONT KNOW JACK ABOUT CARBS!

I have a carter 7lb going through a holley regulator set at approximately 4psi feeding 36DCD's on a 12A streetport with no return line. I think I may be able to benefit from additional fuel flow because of a power decrease (suspected lean condition) at 6500rpm and up, but have yet to test the lambda values - so the carbs or jetting may be the limiting factor.

i'm running a stock 6-port right now (without the sleeves) ...

well, i don't know what kinds of problems you are having, but i used to run the 4.5-9 psi regulator myself, and i had it turned all the way out, too. i was still flooding the carbie at idle (it was pissing gas out the float overflow hole) and it was horrendous throttle response until the RPM got up to say 4,000.

then, i changed to the 1-4 psi regulator and all my problems went away ... so that's just something to consider.

mine is a stockport 12a. 210 needle and seat. was a 300 needle and seat for the dell, but the 210 was in good shape, came with the rebuild kit, and shouldn't be a prob until i get a port job.
