Question parking brake light

My parking brake light on my 85 GSL-SE will not turn off even though the parking brake is released. It just started doing this today. Any thoughts on how to get the light to work properly??

Thats not just your parking brake light, its also a brake system warning light. Check your brake fluid, master cylinder, and brake lines. Mine did the same thing...got it home, opened the brake resevoir and it was bone dry. Come to find out I had a serrated brake line.

Wow, didn't realize that the light also warned of low fluid. Good to know.

I had the light staying on too, but on my car the actual switch mechanism in the hand brake was misbehaving. If you take off the hand brake cover there is a switch that the rear of the lever contacts. I repositioned this and it fixed my problem.

It's a good thing to know, it's like that on most cars.

It's in your Mazda manual that came with the car

Yeah, my fluids were alright. The light did go off by itself so maybe I should adjust the switch under the parking brake cover.

Heh... I've always wanted an original manual. None of the 3 RX's I've owned had one.

Learned the same recently, MC was leaking out the back... Saw it was low, filled it up, drove one day, got low again, finally puked enough fluid to find the leak...
