I would say leave it the way it is. If you simply have to have it black, I would go gloss black. Easier to clean and would look clean in the first place. Flat black would look like you rattle-canned it. I had a black engine compartment on a red car and it looked pretty good, but would have looked better red IMO.

Don't do it man!! Your engine bay is clean the way it is!!

if you wanna clean up your engine bay chuck your cruise control system and that stupid cable that circles around. I'm happy I took mine out, I didn't ever use it anyway.
