Gee, that's a good looking car! Don't change to black, you'll have to change the interior, too, and in the end you'll be disappointed. Just buy another 7, in black, if that's what you want.

Hi Jeesa:
Mine is an 84GSL Cream Color also.
Been thinken about Going Black on Top, Cream In Middle, and Black below the Moulding to make the Side Skirts, RapAround, and Small (Whale Tail) not Pictured to show up better.
I have a Great Paint Guru here locally and where working on different color ideas so I can keep some of the Orginal Cream Color, (still looks like New).
One thing about keeping some of the Original Color is that you don't have to RePaint the Engine Bay or Door Area's.
However I think your Paint looks Great and with our problem being Brown Interior, we are kind of limited to what Color will look Best.
I get alot of compliments on the Cream Color. But I want to do a 2 Tone.
I'm just never happy!!!
Have fun with whatever you do.

Thanks for the Compliment FB II;
I'm using the RB Holley StreetPort setup with the RB Race FuelBowls & Russel Dual Feed Line.
84GSL=Pinnaple Racing Large StreetPort Full RB SP Exhaust and alot of other Goodies.
I don't know why everyone Flames Hollley's on 12A Engines.
Even when I got this one from RB I had to do some HomeWork on getting it to work right. Had a Lean Stumble @6500RPM's sent it back to RB, got it back in 5 days, hooked it up, changed the Mixture by 1/4 turn and she has Purred since then. But it was not that much work once you figure out how they do the Mods on these Carbs.
One thing for sure There is No Way you can buy any Holley Off the Shelf and slap on to a Rotory and have it work properly. I bought 2 of them before I spent the RB Big$$$ and never could get them to work decent.
On my 82 StreetPort & BridgePort I went for the Weber48 and that was a Nice SetUP. That Car Got Stolen. Never to be Found!!!
Even with the Weber SetUp it was alittle tunning to get the Carb to work correctly.
Every Engine Piston or Rotory will have it's own Fuel Related Evils.
I have spent Days' & Day's working on and rebuilding the fuel system on this car Starting From the Fuel Tank to the Intake Manifold to make sure that everything is matched perfectly.
Sorry about the Rant. I just know that a majority of complaints related to Holleys is that they expect them to Perform Perfectly out of the Box. Even with Piston Engines (Never Gonna Happen)!

Jessica,
I would say keep the car that color since that is a color not often seen around here and it does look good when clean.
I don't car for the brown inside and would dye that to black, but that is just me.
This could be your car very easy and cheaper than going to a different color. This cream is a nice color and well the paint job money could got to a set of rims and a full exhaust. Here just look at the pictures.

Saudia's 7 is a work of art I've seen pictures of that car online..he must have spent years altering the body. I repainted my 7 a WRX pearl blue. I removed the engine and did a complete color change. It took me almost a year as I added a subtle hood scoop, fiberglass air dam. Massaged out 10 or so dents. Welded in the steel etc. Cant tell it was ever that cream color unless you remove the carpeting inside. It now has a rebuilt13B with a monster hybrid garrett and air to water IC. Working on megasquirting it and thats been difficult. I also like that cream color its subtle but unique. Now my car looks a bit too flashy and it gets much unwanted attention. Everyone in a mustang or camaro wants to race me. I would suggest keeping it stock on the color and putting in a monster13B but thats me. Also keep in mind once you paint it youll notice every single inperfection. Dont paint it if its a daily driver its bound to get a few scrapes/scratches and it will bother you. Just my opinion. Shawn

I read all the comments and all the addvice sounds sound. My Question is what is the colors for a 1984 rx-7 gslse. I mean what color did mazda use any way. Mine is coppere color? not brown. And am glad that you asked the question you did about paint and cleaning the engine Jess., because those were the same ???? I was asking my husband and all he would tell me was to take to some one who does detail work or cleaning, You guys have been more helpful

Well just get you some engine cleaner, a scrubb brush and a tooth brush. Make sure not to spray the ALT as it will make it go out. Just follow the direstion on the can as they differ a bit among the different brands. It is time and a little elbow grease. Of course if you kill your engine and need to rebuild it, it is much easier to clean with no motor in the bay. Also you can paint the motor like I did

Best way to clean a engine is to grab a couple cans of gunk engine cleaner ay wal mart and a nice big garbage bag from home. Head to your local car wash at night and tear 3 holes in the garbage bag and wear it like a rain coat so you dont get too dirty. I leave the engine running and spray the gunk engine cleaner on everything in the engine bay except the exhaust. A greasy engine usually takes 2 cans including degreasing the underside of the hood. Have a few bucks in quarters handy and spray the hell out of it with the high pressure hot water. This gets 98% of the gunk off then you can get out a toothbrush and more gunk at home with a garden hose if your really fussy like me. I say do this at night because most car washes dont like this and make sure you park over the draining grate at the wash. The water coming off will be nasty. Its well worth the 10.00 cost of the cleaner and car wash quarters. I have never had my engine stall doing this. But remember my engine is also in top running condition. If your stoopid and catch your car on fire from spraying the exhaust dont blame me. I also do this at the wash because the engine degreaser is terrible for the driveway..makes it soft and the dirty water is nasty. Also once you spray the stuff on make sure to rinse any off asap that gets on the fenders etc. I am in the car business and have done this hundreds of times. Hope this helps someone,Shawn
