Overheating or bad connection? Where tho??
I just finished swapping a tranny and flywheel in my car, and now the temp guage goes all the way into the red. I don't hear andy bubbling whie the car is shut off after it is apparently overheating, and I took the rad cap off before it realyl heated up, and the guage at this time said it was overheating, and there wasn't as much pressure as there should be if it were overheating. Prior to me putting in this tranny and flywheel, it never overheated... the flywheel I swapped for was a heavier one, made for this enigine, could that flywheel weight difference play any part with the speed of the cooling fans rotation? I am kindof at a loss.

check coolant level.
check wire connection to the water temp sender.
Any leak in the water pump? 86 + water pump are lighter but doesnt last long.
Remove the t-stat and gut it....its almost summer, no need for it. Upgrade to electric fan.
Check haynes manual....how to check for bad fan clutch.
With the gutted t-stat and the car continues to read hot on freeway speed, you have a clogged radiator. You need rod-out.
Gauge and t-stat is over 15 years old....NEVER TRUST AN OLD SYSTEM.....Install a mechanical gauge for second opinion.
