i have done everything to this car and i still cant get it going to make it road worthy i have done a full tune up and rebuilt the carb and checked the timing and still i cant get why its so hard to keep it going ???im all out of ideas as to what is wrong with the car...i think the carb needs to be tuned or someting is up.ive done everything i can possably do in my power.at times the car will start up but it takes like 3 or 4 tries and after it runs for like 15 mins .i drove it around today in my block and it runs fine.but when i go to park it and come back to the car in like 5 mins it wont start up again??i go to check the carb i see that it isnt flooded.then i try to keep starting the car then the car battery gives out then i have to go and recharge the battery......ANY ideas?? i know FC but i dont know FB that well but have an idea of what to do .BTW Its a 81 GSL -se automatic

Check for flooding by removing plugs and turning engine over to expell gas, then dry plugs. Have you done a compression check, you may have a tired engine, the symptoms are similar. Is there any smoke at startup or when you change gears, if so is it white/black/bluish.

Verify that you have good spark on the leading (lower) plugs, and check your timing when she does run again...

have u tried depressing the gas pedel a couple times before trying to start it? remember, it's carburated not fuel injected. a carbed engine will not start just by turning the key.

You have a good car. Just need to sort out the problem. I had the same thing w/ the Holley. How old is the carb? I think its in the carb.
