The leather upgrade was only on GSL models, i believe. But black was available in cloth/plastic as well, on all models.

I think 81-83 steering wheels were different than 84-85.. Can't remember now.. Mine is long gone...

Congrats on scoring the black interior (leather at that).. You could make a fortune just parting it out..

I bought my 83 GS new with black velour seats (still in good condition, just a small tear in the fake leather bolster). They were and are excellent seats.

eassiest way to tell between the GS and GSL/GSL-SE, would be the rear disc . . .

Smile gsl

another thing to look for would be electric windows in the gsl. so, electric windows, leather seats, rear disc= gsl

my 83 S has black interior. I have to admit it's better looking then the red. but what sucks is i'm having trouble finding a fix for my ripped door panel and one ripped up seat on the fake velour or cloth centers.

'81 to '83 steering wheel (was also the optional wheel on the SAs--- Base SA steering wheel was a 2-spoke) is the sideways-X type. And yes, it was replaced for '84 - '85--- by a three-spoke wheel with color-keyed rubber horn button cover.

the problem with judging a car as a gsl by the disc brakes is rear ends get swapped. the gsl pacage had as I recall: cruise control, rear wiper, sun roof, power windows, digital clock, upgraded clarion stereo with EQ. the disc brkes with LSD and optional leather.

the GS model had a sunroof, power mirrors and electric hatch

The S and no sunroof and no power options,

this does not take into consideration the GSL-SE or LE models
