OMP Rebuild Kit

In the MazSpeed.com article on rebuilding the OMP, they reference a rebuild kit offered by Mike Lowe at Lowe Performance Automotive, but I can't find any evidence of a web site for him. Any ideas where I can get a rebuild kit for the OMP on an '85 GS?

Thanks,
Rich

I rebuilt mine from seals I bought in bulk. I was planning on offering the service on an exchange basis now that I know they work and dont leak.

Thanks Carl. It looks like there are just two seals, right? Are they a pretty common size? If so, I'll just see if I can match them up.

There are three seals. One on each side, and one on the shaft in the middle.

Lowe performance still exist, and still provide the rebuild kits. If you search it up, I've posted thier phone number a couple of times. I picked up a pair of kits just before winter started. They let their website go down, but they are still around.

I plan to find another source for the o-rings and gaskets at some point for the 12a, but I'm too lazy right now. But that's why I bought a second one.

They are definately NOT common sizes, thats why I had such a hard time finding something that works. I found some viton o-rings in sizes that work, but selling a kit would be a headache as getting the seals on right is a PITA. I dont want to spend my life explaining techniques on an o ring kit. I went through many different size seals to find compatable replacements, and after 5k miles Im finally satisfied. Buy brand new? Thats nuts! Only the seals wear out. I'm thinking an exchange program on the order of the $50 range if people are interested.

If anyone cares here are the metric sizes for the viton o-rings I used:

2X32 - for the pump to front cover (13b only). This size worked but it looked as if a 2X31 would have been a better fit.

1.6X10.1 - For that round disk like thing that is not included with the Lowes kit.

1.5X17 - 2 required, one for each end of the omp.

2.4X5.3 - This is that tiny fat ring for the shaft. It is a tight fit going back together but if you notice what originally comes on there is a seat and not an o-ring. Getting that perfect o-ring to replace the seat was not going to happen.

Just a suggestion, why not step it up to an FC oil cooler?? More efficient, in my oppinion, easier to install than to rebuild OMP.

I think you're very confused.

OMP = Oil Metering Pump

It pumps small amounts of oil into the intake to mix with the air and fuel so that the apex seals can be lubricated. It's located on the outside of the front cover of the engine.

FC's ALSO have OMPs.

Changing your oil cooler has absolutely nothing to do with your OMP.

Jon

Edit: you're probably confusing OMP with beehive

Yeah Lowe's Performance still exists. I've posted their phone number two or three times since their website went down. They still sell the kits, I picked up two 12a OMP kits last year. One for my friend, and an extra one for me for good measure (I've already rebuilt mine once, but if I ever switch engines or find a friend in dire need of a kit...)
