Oilve drab paint?

So currently this is what my car looks like...

Obviously it needs some paint ASAP. I still havent decided what color I want it to end up and right now time and money do not allow for a real paint job. So I've been looking for ideas on what to do with the car to make it look less crappy for the short term. Anyway, I saw an olive drab 1st gen Golf in the newest issue of Grassroots Motorsports and thought it looked pretty neat.

Kinda like this one:

This is the olive drab F-Bomb Camaro that was built in Hotrod Magazine which I always thought was a sweet looking car.

So I'm thinking of doing my car up like this for the summer until I have time and space to tear it down and paint it right. Olive drab for most of the car, matte black hood, black all the trim & emblems and possibly black out the wheels too. What do you all think?

My other thought was to do the car matte black and and do the wheels in orange and get some vinyl stripes made up for above the rockers with RX-7 cutout in it like the Porsche GT3 RS like this (but matte black instead of gloss)

So am I nuts or what?

I don't think the olive drab would look so great on the first gen. IMHO a rattle canned paint job with vinyls would look kinda well ricerish. If the flat black was really nicely done probably couldn't be rattle canned. Alot of flat black show cars were painted professionally not rattle canned.

But its your car and you like what you like, don't let others deter you from what you like.

A tip for a nice flat black is to start with 600 grit and get finer grits for each layer, then finally sand the car with a brown paper bag. gives it a smooth flat look. also don't use primer use enamel

another option would be to do the 50 dollar paint job. with mineral spirits and rustoleum

Also I think flat black and light powder blue would look 100 times better than flat black and Orange

I have paint guns so I can spray real paint, just flat is more forgiving then gloss. I also know primer isnt top coat so I will use appropriate paint.

I think OD with dark accents is baller as fawk.

Get yourself some dark rims, black fender flares, black spoiler, maybe a black hood and od everything else and you will pull tail, I promise!

If you do end up using spray cans, make sure to get nozzles that spray a vertical fan pattern as the normal round pattern will leave streaks and look like ****. If you do good body work first, and do a good job, then I think it'd probably look pretty damn good...just not what I would do to mine. And if you do have spray guns and a place to spray (even outside if you have to), then how come you don't just call up your paint store and buy 2-3 quarts of some el cheapo paint? it'd look much better.

Its not so much about the paint but the prep. I need to get this done quick and I dont have the time or a place to do a complete prep so I'm going with the matte paint as it hides blemishes better and I dont have to worry about spraying it perfectly.

if the body work isn't great it will still show.. but its hard to mess up the flat paint. i did 2 coats i think and with the time cruch i had the body work didn't come out right. but then again I am not even marginaly good with body work to begin with and it does show when you look close, but it is a race car and already has some dents and dings on it since it was painted and that's after a couple days at the track.
