I am looking at buying my brothers 85 GSL, it is in good condition except for the fact that it smokes when you run it because oil is leaking from the engine onto the manifold. I was told that the seals just needed to be replaced . Does anyone know about how much this will cost me ?

 

well it wont be too much if you plan on doiung the labour yourself. but if you plan on taking it to the dealership well. just dont unless you got a pocket full of cash u needa get rid of

 

can you pinpoint exactly where this oil is coming from? i'm asking because the oil seals are internal and you'd be getting smoke out the tailpipe ...

 

I asked and I think that most of the Black smoke is coming out of the tail pipes so it is the oil seals. I am trying to locate anyone in my area who knows rx7 and who will do the job without the price of taking it to a dealership. Any other advice you guys can give me will help.

 

where in BC are you? there are a few guys that are on this board from BC ... off the top of my head, NanaimoRx7 is someone that i respect (though i don't know him) but it couldn't hurt to shoot him a PM and see if he could steer you in the right direction.
