Oil leaking from right side

Hi everybody,

I havent posted in a while but my spec 7 from hell is leaking oil like the exxon valdez I bought a new oil pan gasket, but think there may be more to it than that. Anybody had a similar problem. I've degreased the engine a few times but it doesn't take long to gunk up again. I've also noticed oil on the front of the motor, and coated on top of the tie rods or steering rod (forgive me its 2:45 when I wrote this, and i also tried to finish airline security homework in the process ). The exhaust smells horrible after I pu a can of seafoam in it. Third How would I find an exhaust leak? I smell it when I drive around town. Thanks for everybody who gives advice,

Spec 7
P.S. I hopefully one of these days will post a few pics

the exhaust smell will never go away. its one of the many pleasures of owning a 7. the oil leak could be coming from your ol metering pump. check that after degreasing and running. also, you may want to check the pan for rust and check the front main seal for leakage after degreasing and running. you'd know if you have an exhaust leak. the 7 is very quiet when the exhaust is free of leaks. to find a an exhaust leak, look for water spots under the car or simply look under teh car while the engine is running and listen for the leak.

I had a similar oil leak. It turned out to be the front cover gasket was torn. Since I didn't feel like removing the front cover to fix it right, I just cleaned the surface up good, and applied some silicone along the outside.
Mine was only leaking during hard left turns, but it would leave a big mess in no time. One run at the autox, and everything was dripping oil for a couple hours.

Wulff is right, the front cover gasket being bad/dry rotten will cause the oil to leak pretty quick. you will ned to clean the area and drive the car around teh block and recheck the area. dont go too far, you dont want everything covered in oil. makes it much more frustrating when looking for a leak!
