Oil leak at crank bolt?

The SE has developed a oil leak from the front crankshaft bolt when running. I've looked through my manuals and they don't even mention this so I'm asking you guys. Is one supposed to use silicone on the bolt head or threads when putting it together? I had it off a little while back to mark my pulley timing marks and didn't use anything when I put it back on.

Thanks,
Vernon

In the Atkins rebuild video they do. I would have to say yes and if you hade it off you should replace the small rubber O ring

I have not heard of using silicone, but then I have the RA video. Are you sure the bolt is still tight and how's the copper washer and front seal?

I haven't done anything other that confirm where the leak is. Wouldn't the front seal leak behind the hub? This is definately coming from the inside of the pulley. I didn't see any O-ring when I had it off. Are you sure that theres one in there? None of the books show a damn thing. The only time the hub and pulley are mentioned in reassembly is under the oil pump removal section in cooling and lubrication, and then it only says use a new washer. I didn't notice it being copper and just put it back together. If it's loose that would explain it I think.

Thanks for the replys,
Vernon
