the oil light has nothing to do with the oil level. it comes on when the oil pressure is too low or at 0. if it stays on all the time it's probably the sender or the wire has come off. get a mechanical gauge and put on it.

There is a float switch in the oil pan that controls the light. It may be bad or unpluged.

my oil gauge works tho and its at about 60 while driving and 30 at idle and it fluctuates appropriately if i rev it so should i llok for a wire unplugged at the oil pan?

Front wire on the left side of the oil pan is for oil level warning light. Warning light has nothing to do with oil pressure.

my bad, didn't really pay attention to the Oil-L in the subject. i don't have that light, at least never noticed it if i do. i routinely check things like that so i catch a low level before a light would come on. never rely on a light to tell u it needs service.

mine comes on every now and then I pull hard or if I'm parked at an angle, but my oil is topped off.
