official SA/FB love-fest thread!

this weekend i started pulling parts off my '84 gsl-se's engine to prep for the engien swap of doom. the car is intuitively designed, easy to work on, and well put together (except for those lame clips for the airbox lid!). it's an absolute pleasure to work on. i can't wait to slide that S4 engine into place.

what do you love about these cars?

it's a love/hate thing really

Love - the fact that I've done all the work on my car with a single 100pc toolkit, a set of jackstands and a jack (plus two wrenches)

Hate - those bolts that hold the carb down to the spacer... the bolts that hold the master and slave clutch cyls in place... but then again, those aren't so bad now that the rat's nest is gone and my carb is stripped to the minimum

I just removed the engine from my 82 because it blew up. Not litterally, more like just a bang when trying to start it one day. But I was able to remove the engine in 5 hours WITHOUT a cherry picker. Just me and a friend with a 4x4 lifting the engine out. I had to strip EVERYTHING from the engine to make it light enough. But it really is a joy to take one out. Everything is basically just bolt on and you don't have to do any weird kinda menuvering to get the parts out.

I love working on the SA/FB's. Everything is easy to get to and I bet I can pull the engine in half the time it took me with my FC.
