O2 wire

I am replacing my fuel injector wires and when i was pulling the wire bundle apart my O2 wire looked like this. im no professional but im pretty sure this is messed up. the extra wire hanging off was just bundled up like some one had worked on it b4. so my question is, do i now need to replace my O2 wire or is this ok?
Im thinking it may just be a heat protectent that should cover the wire but it doesn't really look like that it.

is the car stock or modded? That may not be a stock O2 sensor. Looks like the shield was connected to a wire ground. Have you had any other issues?

Awesome. I wasn't sure if that's what it was or not. It was taped up and not shielding the wire at all. But now it will be.
Thank you for your help
