Dont blame the builder....blame whoever mistuned the car and broke things in it....

try another carb if you have a friend with a spare. If your plugs were soooo black you may have a stuck float cause too much gas to go thru if the float is too high. You could try tapping on the carb with a "small: hammer to free things up if you don't wanna try another carb. If there is too much fuel pouring thru, you would have to keep on the throttle to provide enough air. A ghetto test would be to just remove a couple vaccuum lines and drive it, if it improves then the problem is in the carb, simple and easy test. Goodluck

Well as it turns out it wasn't a spun bearing... there were some problems with the oil pump and some components inside the front cover. It is getting repaired now, kudos to the builder who is doing the job labor-free even though he wasn't at fault... The engine should be ready in a few days. In the meantime, I got another tranny to replace the old one, and that's going in this weekend. I also got an air/oil cooler to replace the pesky beehive, and that'll go in when the engine is dropped in. The idea is to have the car back on the road within a week, in best shape evar. w00t!

Well Erwin was going to see if he could rebuild the nikki and modify its jets to get the most out of the porting. If it turns out he can't do it because he doesn't have time (he's a little backlogged) then my plan is to buy a used Nikki and send it to Sterling or banana boy. For some reason I like the Nikki and don't think I want to go with other options.

Clutch? stock one.
