Not enough gas getting through carb

I am planning on buying an RX-7 in a couple of days. I have always wanted one and I found one for a price that I couldn't pass up. The problem with it is that the only way to keep it running is to dump gas into the carb. The guy at the place that is selling it said that all it needs is a carb rebuild kit. This is a pretty run down car place so I don't know if to trust him or if it is something else.

Has anyone else had this problem or are there any ideas on what to do to fix this problem. Thanks

old gas = bad. if you didnt need a carb rebuild before you might now after the car has been run. that fuel filter is probably clogged like stink aswell, drain the tank, replace the filter and see what happens.

g'luck

I tried everything before the carb kit... gas treatments, filters, even all the fuel lines. the fitlers helped but the kit ended up solving my problem.

Yes bad gas could be the problem but if some tiny particles of dirt have made a home in a jet or in the float you will need a rebuild kit, these kits are so inexpensive you might as well do it even if you get the car running. It is just a good idea you can get better power/mileage out of a clean rebuilt carb. unless your afraid of rebuilding the carb I suggest go for it. just make sure you've got a can of carb cleaner and use it liberally on everything.

I just picked up my car today. I am so excited and really want to get it running. I will order a new fuel pump and carb kit monday. Does anyone have any recommendations on what brand of carb kit is best and where you got it from. Thanks.
