noise back there

Well I have been having this annoying noise in the rear end for a while. so I went and got a used one from the salvage yard. its the whole rear end assembly. My question is would it be better and easier to just replace the whole rearend assembly or switch the center carrier from one to the other? I will be doing this outside on jack stands with help. No air tools. If I change the whole thing at least I won't have to pull the axles. But which is easier?

If its your rear bearings (whining noise), just replace them. If it's a clicking noise (especially when turning), replace the fluid in the differential with redline synthetic fluid.

Much easier to swap the whole rear end.
