no power/ low & rough idol
it all started about 2-3 weeks ago when I was accelerating down the high way, I flew through 1st and second gear, and just after i went into third I lost all of my power, I pulled off the next exit from the highway in to the nearest parking lot, to find that not only was all of my power gone but my idol was bouncing around 100/400 rpm. I brought it to the local dealership where they told me I needed to rebuild my carb, so I did and nothing changed, i have had the exhaust checked for blockage, the carb rechecked, and nobody has a clue what could be wrong this is a question about an 85 GSL;12a, NIKKI carb, mostly stock but with an msd booster and two super coils.

hmm, I just went through a similar problem on an '82. replaced the coils, fuel filter, plugs and wires, and eventually found it to be the leading ignitor, to check if this is the problem switch the 2 ignitors around ( remove them, and switch the leading to trailing) if this is indeed your problem, the idle will even out, but the tach will stop working.in this case run the car like this and find a new ignitor. oh, search for a thread that i recently started believe it was called help with idle please, but search for threads by me and you will find more info, details.
hope this helps,

However, been that you have an 85, if the trailing ignitor doesn't work, the fuel pump won't either.
Get a timing light first and check leading ignition. If no signal at all, swap ignitors and while someome cranks the engine, check leading ignition again. If there's signal now, there's your culprit. Find a new ignitor and replace.
And what's with the mispelling of IDLE? second thread today.
