No Power after long lay-up

After approx 2yrs of sitting my '82 Rx7 has little if any power.
It runs and idles but when I try to accelerate it is very flat and struggles to make 40mph.
Any Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Does it seem to go slower when you give it more gas?

It does it's share of stalling when I use the accelerator but eventually gains rpm and when it gets to about 5Krpm it wakes up and pulls.
I think it's getting plenty of gas. If I dribble more gas to the carb it only serves to flood it.
I have spark at all four (new)wires.
I have vacuum at both distributor pods and the advance linkages are free inside the distributor.
I just posted again wondering if the "front" or "forward" coil is the #1 coil. I want to make sure I don't have the sparks reversed.
Thanks for the replies.

my guess is u need to rebuild the carb and give it a rather good cleaning
as stated above it may be blockege in the carb i found a rather large amount of varnish in my carb and it was a constint running car so what im getting at is the primarys may have a build up of varnish but its good enough for idel and once u get the revs up ur making the secondarys kick in which giving the sudden increse of power. since the secondarys are probaly cleanish

i may have typed alota crap but hopefully some one can back me up since we are all guestamating ya problem lol
the more facts supplied the easeyer the question is to awnser...

to check the gas is flowing take the fuel line off closest to the firewall put it in a big jar turn the key to acc and see for a constaint yet fast flow if not check the pump and replace the filters tho ur problem probaly isnt flow related

ohh and welcome to the darkside mate

Not sure about which coil is which, and sometimes they do get switched around too. Just make sure that the front ignitor is firing the leading (lower) plugs. Unplug the front ignitor and you should not have spark at the leading plugs. If you do, then the ignitors are switched around which will cause all kinds of ignition and driveability issues.
