No power or acceleration

Guys my car is a piece of ****.

I noticed it acting up this morning. didn't seem to want to climb through the gears as fast as usual. Then later I removed the PS bracket and cleaned the engine bay with some degreaser. Afterwards it has no power and will barely climb a hill. The more gas I give it the more it bogs down; to the point where if I floor it on the hiway it just makes a bunch of noise and stays at the same speed. I cruised around for a little while and it got better, to where i can at least do the speedlimit on the hiway, but it still sputters out if I really try to accelerate at all.

It feels like a clogged cat. This is a problem i've had ever since I installed this engine; it seems to come and go with different severity. Does that sound like a likely cause? It just seems strange that it would be worse then get better and then worse again unless my cat is coming apart in big chunks.

Check your timing. How long has it been since you changed your fuel filter?

I have had weird stuff happen to my car when I clean the engine bay...I always hate doing it cause something funky always happens...a weird noise, car runs funny etc... I HATE putting water in the engine bay...If you did not cover the distributor or the coils, it got wet and that could be your problem..if ran ok before the cleaning and bad afterwards...I bet the water in the engine bay is the prolem...cjf

What year is it? I have a pipe that will bypass the 2 cats in the very front, want it? Its for a 85, but I think all 81-85's are the same as far as that goes
