no power = bad ground?
no power = bad ground?
so i turned the car off opened the door, noticed that the door open light wasn't on, didn't think too much at the time. next morning i go to start it and i have no lights or power to the inside of the vehicle. i checked all fuses inside and all seem perfectly normal. i have a switch panel that still works perfectly fine, but the key turns nothing on. after work i put the key in the ignition with the door open and i heard a faint dinger like its supposed to make with the door open. im thinking i have a bad ground, but im not sure what ground would completely cut the power to the inside of vehicle. i have an 83 with an aftermarket carb and MSD ignition, but im almost 100% sure the aftermarket items aren't the cause. i looked at the neg battery cable, looks to be some corrosion, not sure if its enough to cause bad ground. if you need anymore info let me know, otherwise thanks in advance for the help.
1st, check the middle fusible link located on the driver's side strut tower. If that's alright, then clean both ends of the negative cable. Even a little corrosion can be enough to cause issues. Good luck.
