No OMP=No More Apex seals?

Among my fall tune-ups on my car I found out what my OMP lines were. I know, noob mistake. Anways, when I chekced them the lines were clear. From what I can tell, they didn't work all summer. I tracked the car several times. Put on about 3000 miles, too. So I take it that the OMP cannot be all that vital then? Do you think I've lost some longetivity on my motor?

BTW-I got it working now. The lines just needed to be cleared.

Ok, the oil will fall back down into the motor after it sits.

When you saw that they where clear was your motor running?

No. But the lines were full of dirt. I really don't think there is any way oil was going thru them. I sprayed them out with WD40 and pushed copper wire thru it. Then I put them back on and held the OMP linkage wide open. The OMP squirted out tons of oil and filled the lines up very quickly.

What do you mean the oil will fall back down into the motor while it sits.

The oil will slowly drain back from the lines when the engine is off.

Really? So maybe thats what happened? That makes me relieved then, perhaps I didn't do engine damage this summer.

to answer your original question, your OMP or some other source of lube (premix) is ABSOLUTELY vital to the life of your engine. I'm not saying you're jacked, but don't downplay the importance of keeping that going.

Alright, so you don't think I could have ran OMPless all summer without blowing my engine?

no I'm not saying that. It may very well have held together, what I'm saying is you can't run for long without blowing your engine without it and that without apex seal lube your engine will go quickly. No sense wondering, move on and don't make the same mistake.
