No leading spark...im lost.

Sorry to start another thread about my car not starting, but ive narrowed the field of possibilities down a bit.

The leading igniter checks out fine according to FSM test procedure. I swapped the coil positions and found the same results- spark on trailing, nothing on leading.

I know little to nothing of the internal workings of the dizzy, so could this be my problem? Any ideas would be priceless.

Oh yea... Look what I got for RB today!

Use the trailing coil and take the coil to dizzy wire and swap it from trailing to leading. See if it fires up then.

THANK YOU JEEZUS!!!
I checked the leading plugs and they're firing now, but the motor still wont start for me. As far as I can hear while checking the plugs, the compression is still good.

Im noticing that the plugs from rotor #2(rear) are quite oily. Could I have a bad oil control ring in conjunction with bad wiring at the coils?

Oily? Do you mean black and wet or you touch it and can see motor oil on your fingers?

common sense of the process of elimination, theres a 99 percent chance your coils have gone bad.

Use a spark plug cleaner to clean off your plugs, and try firing it again, then recheck your plugs. You could have fuel adn residue on your plugs to stop you from firing.

Since i dont have plug cleaner i was rinsing with gasoline thoroughly until all the residue was gone. Then after start attempts I pull the plugs and theyre oily- actual black liquid.

Could my oil control rings be instantly fouling my plugs at each startup attempt?

the spark plug cleaner is like a steel wool scraper, that is what I use.

i find a good soaking with ye olde brake cleaner works excellent and blow down with air gun or ur mouth. dont use carb clean, leaves slim layer or silicone. and in ur mind do u tihnk the motor is in bad enough condition the oil control rings leakage? cus id hate for that to happen to anyones engine.

oily or blackened from running rich and gas soaked? you need to check BOTH coils. if you swapped a wire and now it fires up then you still have a bad coil and you need to replace one or both. you can use brake cleaner to clean the plugs. when i'm in a pinch, i'll soak the plus in bake cleaner, wipe them off as dry and clean as i can get them and then hit them with a torch. works great and never had a probelm with it.
