no gas getting to the carb!

Hey guys, It's ben a while since I've been on here. I've ben in Brasil for 2 yrs. as a missionary. Needless to say, I havnt driven my 85 rx-7 for quite a while. My bro drove it a bit, but it had an ignition prob so he quit driving it. Its been sitting for about a year and a half. When I arrived, I fixed the ignition prob, Ive got spark, when I pour gas in the carb, she'll start up.
No gas is getting to the carb. There is fuel in the tank. The fuel pump is brand new, its not getting any gas to it. I even sucked on the fuel lines with my mouth, I just got air. Ive traced the problem to the farthest back fuel line. Still no fuel comes out. The line looks to be in good condition.
Any ideas?

The line is stopped up. Go to parts store and get 4 ft of the same size fuel line. Two hose clamps, a tire valve and a can of carb cleaner.

put the fuel line on the stoped up hard line and use the clamp. take off the gas cap. cut down the end of the tire valve so it will go in the hose tightley. use the other clamp to hold it. Hit is with 40 PSI of pressue. just bump it a time or to and listen for air comming into the tank. If no air. then take out the center of the valve and squirt carb cleaner in the hose. put the valve back in and repeat. I have cleaned several this way without any problems.

Wow. Thats a good idea Hades12 I'll try that out. I hope it works, because to drop the tank would be a real pain.
Look, if anyone else has a genious idea as to how to clean out this hard line, or anouthe idea as to what the problem is, please post. Thanks guys.

I bought a GSL that would idle fine, but as soon as you gave it gas, it died. Turns out the pickup tube filter was split and the tube sucked up the rust in the tank. If your car has sat for awhile, it may be worth it to drop the tank, and no, it's not that much fun, but it is better than fighting nagging fuel problems.

I wish our tanks were cheap and plentiful and new.

Wow Thats true. I hope I don't need to drop the tank. I've never done it before. If anyone has, Could you tell me a bit about how it's done. Are there just a few bolts, are they hidden? Do you have any hints?

Dropping the tank is easy.

You have to disconnect the filler neck at the top. Pull two bolts from the straps and disconnect two wires.

Use a jack if it has much fuel in it.

dropping the tank is easy(as someone else said). I had the same problem with a tank on a '79(that hades12 is buying from me tomorrow). It ended up that the pickup tube from the tank was clogged, and NOTHING I did could clear it. I ended up putting a tank from a '83 on it.
