no compression in my rx7
yeah I got a 81 mazda rx-7 for free the other day. well the car quit working on this guy 5-6 years ago. and he had it sitting since I got it from a guy from work friend and he told me that the only thing they noticed was no fuel going. well I got the car home saw a new fuel pump on the car but I turned it over and has no compressoin turns over really fast and funny. I thought this was normal for rotery motors. never worked on one before. I tried to put oil down the carb to see if that would kind of help out. it would not suck it down. is this motor junk or should I try to remove the spark plugs and put some oil in their wil that help its been sitting 5-6 years. please help thanks

forget MMO.
If the engine's THAT far gone, ATF the bugger.
Seriously. If you take the plugs out and you don't hear a good compression sound when you turn it (by hand), then it's probably either totally fucked, or just carbon locked.
What you need is a windex bottle with a bit of ATF in it. Take out the plugs and spray into the chambers, slowly rotating it by hand. let each chamber sit with atf on it for a good period of time. A day or two should do it. Then (with the plugs still out) hand turn the pulley away from you, which will scoop up the excess atf and ooze it out the bottom spark plug holes. Do this for two or three turns of the big pulley to make sure you get as much of the ATF crap out as possible, then reinstall the plugs, sprinkle a bit of gas into the carb, and fire it up.
Burn off the ATF, and if it works, great. If it doesn't, it's engine rebuild time
