Nikki Trouble..Help!

Coming off a rebuild on my stock Nikki carb, the fuel is about one quarter up on the sight glass in both bowls and I am getting fuel dripping in from the venturis. Mainly the front one. This is while the car is sorta idling at 1,000 to 1,500 rpm. The car just doesn't want to idle and when I rev it up it studders and coughs. When the car is off, the accel pump squirts a healthy dose of fuel into the carb. Any thoughts on why I would be getting fuel dribbling in from the venturis even when my bowls are relatively low? By the way, it is an 84 GS.

Thanks!

I just went throught he same EXACT problem... Try dropping the fuel pressure down some. I had to go as low as 2.0 - 2.5 psi

Yep, what he said. Common problem after a new rebuild. Are you anywhere near Grand Rapids?

Frustrated

Other side of the state. Bay City.

Well I decided to take it for a ride. It sputters and farts when I take off slow but if
I put the pedal to the floor she takes off like a bat out of hell. Then if I drive at a constant speed she sputters again. And then it died on me. Restarts for just a second or two then dies again. Thought I was on to something when it only ran well on the secondaries but now it won't run at all.

Part of the problem is that a lot of the rebuild kits for these carbs are so old that the rubber part of the needle is kinda hard and doesn't seal very well.
