Bigger number= bigger jet.

Crap, I meant to ask which are bigger; primary or secondary. I've read here and there that secondary jets are supposed to be leaner than primary. Any truth to that in the Nikki?

What do you want to accomplish? What's the application/driving style?

In all my Nikki experience the secondary fuel jets are always bigger than the primary fuel jets. Secondary chokes are bigger, thus moving more air and needs more fuel to maintain proper air/fuel mixture.

Sterling, the application is rejetting an Hitachi carb to work better on a street ported 13B. I have several old Nikkis sitting around and also have a few Hitachis, one of which a previous owner already swapped the primary jets out for Nikki jets. According you guys, 160 means secondary, so that's what was installed. It seems to run great and I have one other Hitachi from the same vintage that it totally stock inside and doesn't produce as much power on the same engine (while on primaries, which is 90% of my driving).

I don't pretend to know the black art of carb tuning so all I'm trying to accomplish at this point is to mimic what the PO of my other Hitachi did. The power improvement was very nice, and very cheap.

Yes, the jets are compatible between both carbs. What do you think about this idea?

I got 150s for primaries and 175s for secondaries (about to change them to 180s ) on my streetported 12A, rest of mods in my sig.

Disclaimer: I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to carbs, so don't try to imitate me

Where can I get 190s?

With carbs, if some is good, more is better.

Well, you can order them from Mazdatrix. I also happen to have a pair of 190s I'm not using. Will let them go for a mailing cost and a nominal amount.

Just convert it to mec. sec.s and you'll be happy. Do the AP mod.
Hell, just send the damn thing to Carl.

Hahahaha, hey laugh all you want Dennis, but guess what, the sizes I ended up with were not toooo far from my original 160s and 190s. I have 150s and 180s on right now. Ok. couple of sizes off. Not too bad for a n00b!

I don't think Carl works on Hitachi carbs. The AP is different too.

160 primary and 190 secondary has a nice ring to it. I'll go ahead and let you guys know what jet sizes this Hitachi currently has in it and if I can *feel* any improvement on my MG Midget 13B project with larger jets.

Yeah, but WTF are you running in the e-tubes, Carlos? You insisted on focusing just on the fuel jet size, and the proper FJ size is contingent on the AJ size!

And I told you o58s in front (primary), no?
You're running o59s.
Now you're running o74s in back. I still think that's too big.
Try this combo (just ****** try it. )

o59s in front like you have, w/ o23 air jets; and o64s in back w/ o46 air jets.
(...and the o64s in back are a comprimise. I still think even those are big.)
