nikki carb on a 13b

i was wondering if anyone knows if the nikki carb that comes on the 12a would bolt onto the 13b motor from an gsl-se? Do you need a custom manifold, and if so, do you know who makes them?

yeah you'd need a custom manifold, but why would you want to put a nikki on a 13B? unless is modded, it might just not be enough.

You can try and see if the older 13B carb intake will fit you should need a adapter plate for 6 port to 4 port but it can be done.

You're better off getting a Weber and the Racing Beat adaptor manifold to mate it to the lower manifold on the engine. Dellorto used to make a carb that Racing Beat used in their kits, but the Weber is the only side draft carb available right now.

That said, I once had access to a 6 port 12A Nikki manifold which somebody had stretched to fit a GSL-SE. It worked. I no longer have access to it so please don't ask.

Yea,a stock 12A nikki would likely run out of flow at the topend, especially on a 6 port 13B.They are only like 250cfm I believe.

I ran my Yaw Nikki on a 4 port 13B,and it was very responsive and revved all the way to redline with great power. That carb flowed 420cfm and had razor sharp throttle response.Paul Yaw isnt making carbs any more, but the Sterling carb is a similar type of modded Nikki, and is still availible.
The Weber/Dell/Mikuni/Holley carbs would be easier to adapt to the 6 port 13B than the Nikki, but all are considered "race" carbs, and there will always be some level of comprimise in driveability. How much is too much,is a matter of prefference.I can say the modded Nikki I ran had ZERO flaws,it started, idled, revved, pulled and cruised like a stock carb,no flatspots,no faults......check out the Sterling carb if your serious about running a Nikki on the 13B.

I believe 313 cfm is the right figure for a stock nikki.

The sterling carb was up to what, 465 I think?
