Newbie question
My wife and I are now proud owners of an 82 RX7 with a 1979 engine. Straight body, no rust and basically a clean car for being 23 years old! One problem (there is always something): the car has been sitting for about 2 months now and I am concerned that I will screw something up when I try to start it.
Any recommendations on the best way to avoid problems (or damage) when starting the car, or can someone direct me to a thread that has discussed this type of question before?
Thanks!!

2 months should not be a problem. Mine sits for 5 or 6 months every year during the winter. I always have good intentions of going out and starting it now and then to keep it lubed up, but seldom get it done. It might be wise to squirt a very small amount of Marvel Mystery Oil into the plug holes or even into the carb before starting to make sure the apex seals are oiled. Don't know about this though, since I've never done it.
Good luck!

Congrats on the new 7. Search for the info on the Marvel Mystery Oil thing mentioned above. Our 79 sat for almost 7 years and we did the MMO thing last summer and the car has run great ever since.
Basically, we poured a couple of ounces of MMO down the carb, spun the engine by hand a few rotations every day for a couple days(adding a little MMO each day), took out the leading(lower) spark plgs, spun the engine backwards a couple rotations to get rid of most of the MMO, then reinstalled the plugs and started her up. She fired up in a few seconds and smoked like a chimney for about 15 minutes then settled in and has run great since.
