A newbie with no questions and many thanks...

In 1984 my father called me up out of the blue at college and told me he bought a new car. "It's an RX-7 he said, and it's a new one, a special edition."

Well it was a GSL SE, and it was sort of his mid life crisis car I suppose. He loved that car and wouldn't let anyone drive it. For the first 17 years, the car led a pretty good life. It was garaged at home, and he just used it a few days a week for his daily work commute. He serviced it regularly and was generally pretty good about keeping it clean, and if he wasn't, (more so in the later years) I'd give him the business about it and clean it up myself.

When he retired a few of years ago, the car began to be neglected. It would sit for weeks or more without being driven, and then started to develop occasional random problems. I kept telling him he needed to drive it or sell it as it was a shame for that car to be sitting still.

Well, last week, he decided to sell it. After doing some research, he came up with a price and told me what he was going to do. I really didn't need a second car, but I hated to see such a nice car leave the family so I told him I'd buy it off of him. He seemed pretty pleased.

The next day after I agreed to buy it, he called me back and said it was mine for free under three conditions. I took good care of it, I drove it regularly, and I didn't sell it for at least a couple of years unless it really turned into a burden. Obviously, I agreed to all the conditions.

So 20 years old and 80k miles and I'd finally get a chance to drive that RX7. I've had it for a few days now and for the most part it's in great shape....I had lots of questions, and I have to tell you guys, this was a great place to get answers. Spent some time searching and going through the FAQ and every question I've had so far has been answered, and for that, I just wanted to say thanks!

I'm getting it tuned up this weekend and then I'll really get a chance to drive it the way it deserves to be driven. I can't wait.
