New Shocks and Springs installed!!!

Tokico HP's (Blues) and Suspension Technique (ST) Springs have made their way onto my FB (thanks to CHUNKY MONKEY for the HUGE help)!! The ride is not that harsh at all (definetly stiffer than stock but very good for a daily diver which my fb is). These shocks are amazing and the car feels so freakin tight! I love them! On another plus side the car got dropped ONE INCH all the way around and she looks good! I don't have pics of her yet...i will post some later this week. I just wanted to share my happiness! Next on the mod list: Slotted brakes and Hawk HPS Pads.

Tokico BLUES!!!

you'll really notice a difference when you start pushing it.

springs

does anyone maybe better than stock spring that doesnt drop teh car an inch?

i know an inch isn't all that much, but given some of the roads i'll be driving on aren't all that kept up, i'd like to keep as much clearance as possible

RB springs dont bring the car very far down, in fact a lot of cars that get RB springs go up a bit since the stockers were sagging.

Same suspension that Im running on my car and I agree - stiffer but not too harsh for DD. The only thing I found was it showed how much I needed to replace the other stuff (idler arm, tie rod ends, bushings, etc..)

Same setup on mine... with ST sway bars... great on everything 'cept the city roads.

Should enjoy it.

Dang it! I would have told you to get them from JCWHITNEY.....

http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...tt=rx7+springs

Congrats on the install. I had the same setup on my SE a few years ago. Overall they are nice performance for the price. Poly Bushings make just as much of a difference. I highly recommend if you haven't gotten them. RESPEED sells a full kit.

Good luck!

CapnLou, FB Drifter is right. I got the Tokico blue/ RB setup on mine and it actually raised my front end by about half an inch (severely sagging) and my rear end stayed about the same. Man, what a difference it makes though, the car handles better than the driver now.

onlyonthurs, get some close up pics of the rear wheel-well. I don't like the wheel gap in the rear on mine with rb springs and want to see what it would look like with st springs.

Yeah, my buddy's got the tokiko/eibach combo (I think eibach/suspension techniques have very close spring rates), and I've got the KYB/RB combo.. the two most popular combinations I've heard on here.

Unfortunately his car isn't on the road yet, so I can't compare it to mine, but I'd imagine it's a much stiffer ride. Probably jars your internals a bit, but it'll let you take some screamin' corners

When I put the Illuminas on with RB springs, I did not see any drop at all. Feels great though! However, the addition of the RB front sway bar made a bigger difference overall than the springs/shocks did...

I agree with kentetsu, rb springs don't drop the car very far (especially rear on mine) but they do keep the ride livable while raising the handling substatially over factory.
The rb front sway bar is massive, weighs probably 15 pounds and is over an inch in diameter easy. Heres a pic of the rb sways front and rear just for size compareson.

I've got the RB front sway coupled with the RB spring set and Tokico Blues (HPs). The sway bar is 1 1/8 in diameter and is a real PITA to move around laying on your back with one hand. the ears are also about an 1/8 too wide to fit through the holes in the tension rod mounts, so I had to do a little grinding to make it fit.

But boy, what a difference!

With my rear bar totally removed and about 1.5 negative camber in the front, the car handles almost entirely neutral on the Solo II course, with just a hint of understeer if you apex the corner wrong. The transition to oversteer is gradual and predictable and can easily be controlled and brought back in line.

You have to remove the tension rod mounts from the chassis in order to get the bar through...

Also, the only bitch I have with the RB swaybar is this; The stupid high-on SOB that put the damned decal on the bar must have been standing on his head when he did it. The stupid sticker was on upside down!

Now, that might sound like a small detail to get really pissed about, until it leads you to installing the bar upside down, then having to redo all of your work when you find out that you can't get the end links through the bar... DOH!!!

I know...

The old bar came out fine. The new RB unit, not so much.
