New To RX-7s any thing to look for and what are common problems
Hi im new to RX-7s . i have a few questions:
Is 137000miles high for a 85?
What are some common Problem?
Is there anything to look for when Buying?
Is there any special things to do for maintenace?
Do they cost alot to keep runing good?
i would like to get these questions answered for for i make any commitments to an RX-7.

I have about that many miles on my '85.
Many more on my '81 and '83.
You should read through the FAQ that's at the top of this forum. That will answer a lot of your questions.
But, in short:
Common problems:
Mostly simple things like fuel filters and vacuum/carb problems.
Look for when buying:
Watch out for rust! A common place is kind of between the rear of the seats and the front of the wheel wells. Rust hates these cars.
Maintenance:
RX-7s are generally agreed to need more frequent oil changes than piston-powered cars. That said, it doesn't bother me at all to change the oil, so I don't mind that at all.
You will want to replace the fuel filter, purchase new plugs (and possibly wires), and do a general tune-up if you're just buying an RX-7.
Does it cost a lot to keep running good?
I'm a poor college student, and I don't think it's too expensive to keep mine running well.
If you plan on keeping it stock, buy the car unless there are major problems with it....
If you plan to modify it, be sure to account for the amount of time it will take to perform those modifications... I don't do many performance improvements, and with my busy schedule I know I can barely squeeze in the minor maintenance I need to do this summer. (The clutch needs to be replaced and I need new tires)
.....Read the FAQ :-)

you mean TSI AWD? anyways will you plan on driving it in the winter? Like with any car how well it has been taken care of in the past will determine how long it will last. Also another place rx7alien has noted yet no one mentions is on the passenger side frame rail where idler arm connects, is prone to rusting.
