My father in-law recently gave me his 1982 gsl-se. he has had the car from 6 miles on. little rust, and one rotor no longer has compression. you could call it a project car. It'll be interesting building the car, since this will be my first project. I look forward to getting some help from everybody.

rmayton has it right
GSL-SE's were only ever made in '84 and '85.. they came with fuel injection (ie: no blue air filter canister above the carb), rear wheel discs, cruise, and a different mag bolt pattern
Check inside the driver's doorframe for some info on the production date of your car. If it still holds to '82, then it's probably just a GSL. Carb'd yes, but rear disc brakes and limited slip differential rear gear box... it's a good car
The motor, if it has no compression in one rotor, *may* or *may not* be rebuildable... but you'll have to take it apart to find out!
