Thumbs up New motor Quandrey

Just Purchased an RX7 12A from the second owner. Body is in great shape, But needs a new engine. I know that Parts are getting scarce for the 12A and would like some more power. What would be a good engine swap other than a V8

a 13b or a 13bt, just depends how much money you want to spend... But 12a's arent really as scarce as you think... With this website you can find almost anypart you need for it. Plus with a 12a you can build it up and then brag to people that they got smoked by a 1.1 L You could rebuild you engine, get a full exhaust system, get a full racing intake, and get alot more power out of it.

12a are not that rare.

I'm in northern california and someone local to me is selling a short block wtih a claimed 6000 miles on it for 300 obo...he might sell it to you for that much shipped even.

for swaps, unless youw ant to dare to be different, a 13bt is a great choice as there's lots of support for that swap here and it's not that $$.

I'd say find a donor FC Turbo II somewhere and just use it as a fun project.

If you want to put a known good engine in, you can still get remanufactured 12a's for around 2 g's.
