New Mazda OEM bumper covers?
G'day,
I have a question for anyone who knows about the Mazda OEM bumper covers/skins for FB's. When purchased, do the mouldings come black or are they coated in something?
I am looking at buying some apparently brand new OEM bumpers, but the pictures show that the mouldings are not black as I'd expect. I don't want paint on them, I want it to be the original texture.
Here are two pictures from the seller:

Would realy appreciate an answer quickly if anyone knows!
Thanks alot.
Dave

Thanks for your reply nobodymv.
That's what I think. What I want to know is, in what condition do the bumper skins come in when you buy them from Mazda. For sure they don't come in the stock colours, but the molding is always black and the stock bumpers I've seen (mine at least), it is not black paint, its bare plastic. If the molding is not black, its been painted and cannot be a new oem Mazda part.
Is there anyone out there that has ordered them from Mazda and can confirm? It could be that they have changed and now always come from Mazda all covered in primer.

OK, I called a Mazda parts store and they said the moldings on the bumpers come masked off with a film that you peel off after painting to reveal the black plastic of the molding.
Does this sound right?

That's a lot of money for a bumber. I bought 2 brand new unused fenders and one bumber cover off ebay for $95 and the guy was local. He bought them for a project and never used them. Since your in Australia, I'd contact SelectMaz. I think they have some of the best body kits. I contacted them but it was going to cost just as much to ship to the states as the price of the kit. http://www.selectmaz.com.au/home.htm
Unfortunately, parts are expensive in Australia, and people know they can make money out of it. In this case, the bloke is not even recouping what he paid to Mazda for the parts originally.

Well its around US$527 for both bumper covers. Mazda want around US$510 just for the front bumper cover, and almost as much as that for the rear. And of course, these aren't aftermarket or body kits (and I'm not interested in a body kit...yet), they're genuine Mazda. Over here, people sell a *used* front bumper for US$260!
