New here, few RX-7 questions...!!!

Hi everyone
I have been looking for a car to make into a race car, but it has to be a 4cyl / manual tranny. I just found a RX-7 that I can get for free. Not sure of the year, but I would guess around an 80 or so. Has the Rotary engine. Car is pretty rough, but is supposed to run and has been sitting for years. If it runs, I am going to take it... here lies the problem... NO KEYS, and it looks as if someone has already done surgery on the ignition switch and basically pulled all the wires out of it. SOOOOooooo, I need to know which of these wires (there are probably 8 or 10ish of them) need to be hooked together to get everything working that needs to be to hotwire the car? Also, can I just dig a little deeper into the ignition switch w/ a screwdriver to unlock the steeringwheel, or is there a better way?

If someone has a copy of a wiring diagram for the ignition that would be GREAT!!!

The car has a 4bbl on it, is that stock? What else should i look for?

Thanks
JEREMY

Best bet is to get a Haynes manual off of eBay or do a search in this tech board and use the words, "wiring" and "diagrams"...it's all there waiting for you to read...

I know that it is not a 4cyl.... but it still meets the rules for where I am racing. That is why I want to see if I can get it to run, so I can clean house!!!

You will enjoy one season, maybe even one race, and then they will ban the rotary engine or make you add 500 lbs of ballast...

Well, it is more of a private dirt track that a friend built in a field that a bunch of us buddies are building cars to race... the guy that built the track is the guy that makes the rules, and he is the one that found me the car and said that it is cool to run! I just needed to figure out that ignition.

One race and his buddies are going to be screaming for more weight on his car or force him to run 185/70s all the way around...
