The car has 110,000 miles on it but the motor has about 5000 0n it. I don't know a lot of history on the car except what the guy I bought it from told me and he only drove it about 3000 miles. From what I figure the carb motor and exaust wrer done at the same time. The problems were there from the start. I realise that you need to shift at higher rpms but if I come out of first any lower than 2500 rpms you get wipe lash. Now things seem to be getting worse. The bad pedle response seems to be creaping up into the higher rmp range and also the ignition problem I explaned I my last post. If I can provide any more details let me know.

you may want to try a carb adjustment and check fuel pressure.
